Fleur De Lis Canvas

I used a fleur de lis stencil to make a cute little canvas. Just a late night project to cure boredom.

Next Big Project: Materials

My next project involves this large canvas (in the back of my car) and the picture below, as well as the song lyrics.

Still my heart and hold my tongue. I feel my time, my time has come. Let me in, unlock the door .I never felt this way before. And the wheels just keep on turning. The drummer begins to drum. I don't know which way I'm going. I don't know which way I've come. Hold my head inside your hands. I need someone who understands. I need someone, someone who hears. For you I've waited all these years. For you I'd wait 'til kingdom come. Until my day my day is done. And say you'll come and set me free. Just say you'll wait you'll wait for me. In your tears and in your blood. In your fire and in your flood. I hear you laugh I heard you sing. I wouldn't change a single thing. The wheels just keep on turning. The drummers begin to drum. I don't know which way I'm going. I don't know what I've become. For you I'd wait 'til kingdom come. Until. my days my days are done. Say you'll come and set me free. Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me. Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me. Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me.

Jim and Pam Pt. 2

I decided to give my Jim and Pam painting just a bit of a touch up. They look superfab now.

This is what they looked like before. The water and a lot of Jim needed retouching.

And here they are after touch-ups!

Accent Pieces

I got these cool stencils from Hobby Lobby that are similar to the designs on my duvet cover, so I painted some cute accent canvases for my room.

This is my inspiration for the project: my duvet pattern and a painting from my room that my grandmother painted

It was way too plain with just one stencil on it, so my friend Hilary suggested I do an overlay of other stencils with different colors.

And.....voila! Here's the finished product. Not so bad if I say so myself.

Late Night Smoothie

I was craving something sweet and semi healthy, so I attempted to make a banana smoothie like my favorite one at Smoothie King. At Smoothie King, I get a small yogurt delight with banana and add cinnamon.

These are the ingredients for my smoothie (dare I say knock-off)

  • one banana
  • a couple scoops of frozen vanilla yogurt
  • ice
  • cinnamon sugar
  • milk
I know this is a terrible mother-in-law recipe, but I didn't really measure anything. It turned out pretty great! Satisfied my craving for something sweet, although I would have preferred to have some wedding cake ;)

Here are all of the ingredients in the blender, prior to blending.

This was the only frozen yogurt available at Walmart. The only differences between this fro yo and ice cream are the consistency--the fro yo has a gelatin quality--and the nutrition information--shown below.

I really love this dispenser function my blender has. It doesn't always work reliably but that's what you get with a $17 blender.

And here is the finished product!

If you are your own worst critic then, I did a fabulous job :)

Saturday Trip to Hobby Lobby

My roommate is going out of town this weekend, so I've got to keep myself occupied all weekend. I'm going to get a few canvases and paint some things for my room. I need more equipment from home and from my parents in order to work on my Black Swan tutu and my dining room chairs. I would bake a cake this weekend, but I'd probably eat the whole thing by myself. I have zero self control.

Here are a few adorable pictures of baby animals. I'm feeling really maternal lately.

I'm an Outside Gal

The best place to get some work done is outside. There's no place I'd rather be than outside on a beautiful day. And although it did start storming right after this picture was taken, the temperature was much nicer than it has been all week.

Oh and thanks to my fabulous brothers for the pink adirondack chairs and white side table for my birthday.

Tutu Bodice Fitting for Black Swan Costume

I visited this website called Tutu Today. It instructs how to make the bodice, basque, and tutu for a tutu costume.  Here's the website http://tututoday.com/how-to-make-a-tutu-intro/bodice-pattern/.  To make a custom-fit bodice, I needed to duct tape myself over a t-shirt and then cut it down the back. Here are some pictures of the experience.  Oh yeah, thanks Heather for the help.

Lunch Today and My Upcoming Trip to Hobby Lobby

Thanks to Tupperware, I was able to eat my dinner last night for lunch today.  I guess  you could say I'm a little obsessed with salmon at the moment. Also, I have nothing to post about, because I've banned myself from Hobby Lobby until Saturday.  That's the last day I can use the 40% off one item coupon.  I'm going to buy a large canvas for above my bed to paint the lyrics from Coldplay's "Till Kingdom Come." Will post more about this project later.  Also, Saturday is the last day for the 30% home decor fabric. I think I've decided on the striped fabric for the dining room chairs.

Salmon Again

Made some salmon for dinner, with a side of potatoes au gratin and lima beans.

Sweet Summer Snack

I love sweets, and it's in the upper 90s here in Baton Rouge, so my solution is frozen grapes!

Reupholstering the Dining Room Chairs

I want to reupholster my dining room chairs. The whole set was originally purchased by my parents, when they first got married in 1982 (or something like that). The base of the table was gold, the chairs were the same color, and the upholstery was white with vertical ribs in it. When we moved to Mississippi in 2000, my mom changed the upholstery to this gray and black. Since then, we've renovated our house three times and the table has flooded in two different hurricanes (it used to have six chairs, but one got lost somewhere along the way). Now it's mine and I'm looking to give it a modern edge.  Of the fabric samples, which do you like best?

Black Swan Tiara

Making a little progress on my Black Swan costume. Made this tiara using silver pipe cleaner.

Black Swan

Just a little inspiration for my next project.

Wonder what it could be....

Getting a head start on the Halloween preparations. Will post pictures along the way.
